Blue Day. Formerly B Day. Day 72.
Today the Seniors came back. I thought I would be more excited. We had a fake fire drill and I saved everyone from the fake fire. We read The Burning 3 and everyone in the entire class was moved by the depth of the characters and the moving portrayal of the main character.
Then a couple of Argentinian students (well, one) tried to help me with my Spanish pronunciation, but I pointed out to them that they are Argentinian, so do they really know if my pronunciation is off? It didn't matter though, because by the time I got the question out, my impromptu Spanish tutor was already asleep on her desk. I think I'm going to have my desks replaced with 36 dog beds and the whole class can just curl up on the floor.
AP Study Hall, was uneventful until we began discussing some random geography. I don't know what prompted it, as frankly I don't really pay that much attention to the class. I'm like a dolphin, half of my brain can sleep while the other half is vigilant. In my state of vigilance I mentioned that I had been to Newcastle England. One of my students (are they students in study hall, or just placeholders for my other classes?) asked why I would go all the way to England just to go to a fast food restaurant. That is White Castle. Not Newcastle. Although I've been to both and honestly they are both kind of trashy chic. Also, some kid came in from another class with a pass from another teacher, I have no idea why, and then just sat down, and started playing fortnite. He remained until class dismissed.
AICE Global Perspectives did everything possible to do nothing at all and it was successful.
During U.S. History (Honors) the assistant principal came in to observe. We happened to be performing musicals and he took a few pictures, sent me an email telling me I was creative (honestly I just have them do this because it amuses me) and then told me I can't send kids out with a pass if it's in a backpack. Perhaps I will invest in a fanny pack.
Hey I just realized I can leave comments!
shame you cannot use a backpack anymore
