Blue Day. Formerly B Day. Day 18.
Does this look like the head of a man that still has dreams?
This is not. Every missing hair is a dream that died. Every missing hair means as much to me as every extinct dinosaur, every rose variety lost to time. And here, immortalized is my pain, artwork provided by a wayward, troubled young lady, to remind me I am just a basketball in glasses. When people tell you how rewarding teaching can be, show them this. Let them judge for themselves. I will say, this was a bold move to put on the front of a packet I hadn't graded yet...
AP Government is getting a quiz tomorrow. I'm wearing boots, because the room will be awash in tears. Or not. Personally I didn't find it that difficult as I was writing it.
Several other notable phenomena worth mentioning is the mysterious appearance of llamas on my door. Not actual llamas, that would be messy and noisy, but stickers. As of now it is a mystery, but the llamas are definitely appearing from somewhere.
AICE Global Perspectives attempted a very easy opening assignment, had to be reminded numerous times to actually write down what they were doing and then spent the rest of the class trying to smuggle their phones back out of the phone holder. On the subject of phones, one girl left her phone in my room for three days. She took it back today and said she hadn't been worried because it was one of her three phones, and this one was just a back up. I can just imagine it's gotten to the point where kids are carrying pocket phones, backpack phones, ankle phones etc. It was like some gangster hiding a phone in a boot, thuggish and suspicious.
U.S. History (Honors ?) got annoyed that I didn't give them the quiz I promised. I put it off to watch a movie. How indoctrinated by the system do you have to be to choose a quiz over a movie?
Oh. And I'm just going to leave my artistic response here. Personally I think this picture, the one I drew captures the essence of the kid that drew me. The detail of this one is so lifelike it's hard to tell if it's a photograph or a sketch.
