B Day December 12

I have few memories of this day. Students came and left like streaks of color seen from a bus window. I am only half awake and Freshman study hall is fully awake and the two together makes me feel ill-at-ease.

U.S. History Honors took the surprise test they have known about for more than two weeks now. I expect them to do well, yet they excel at taking my expectations and deconstruct them until they are only hopes and hopes live the lives of mayflies. Here and then gone in one day. At the end of their short lives my expectations like mayflies lay in piles, dry and empty until an opportune wind blows them away.

U.S. History General was asked to write a play. How do I explain how to write a play to someone that is unfamiliar with the concept of plays. I am done here.

Oh, and there was a 45 minute fire drill and I successfully pretended to save all of their lives. All of my students now pretend owe me a life debt. I look forward to collecting.
