A Day October 3

U.S. History Honors: Today 27 of my 1st hour class missed 1st hour to take FSA retakes, although I only have 25 students in class total. It is my fervent desire to keep testing students on information they would have had if they had actually been in class had they not been testing. Frankly it's exhausting. Also, we started a Jigsaw activity in class on the following topics, Wounded Knee, Exodusters, Buffalo Soldiers, The Transcontinental Railroad (although I may have to change the name of that one, considering state politics and what I can say and not say) and the California Gold Rush. The students seemed pretty surly about this assignment that forced them to work in groups of five probably because it reminded them of how many kids showed up for their 9 year old birthday party, even though they sent invitations to the entire school.

AICE narrowed down their topics to lenses and so the research begins. The feeling of "brain swell" in the room is akin to the pressure one feels before a storm. Soon great intellect will fall out of each student like a whale giving birth from the top of a tall building.
