A Day August 24th

This morning was memorable in how immemorable it was. I quietly drank coffee and prepared for the day, eager to get a start on what would surely be a great day of teaching! Of course I was supposed to be at a meeting. I remembered this as the bell sounded to start 1st period.

U.S. History Honors finished both power points, "Causes of the Civil War" and "Course and Consequences of the Civil War". Then I passed around cool little things from my Civil War replica collection. After that I played a game of Kahoot where at least three people mistook Harriet Tubman for Abraham Lincoln. This will be an uphill climb I think.

AICE Global Perspectives continued to labor at pulling Pathos, Ethos and Logos from an article pulled from "The Atlantic". It was mild chaos, not the evil concentrated ill-will I felt last year. I can work with this. I extended the deadline for the presentations to 11:59 pm this evening. Next week we will move away from the AICE stuff for a minute and delve into the world of Core and Periphery and Dependency Theory. The Demographic Transition will surely make an entrance at some point. Also, a reminder that the "Dollar Street" assignment is due on Friday at 11:59. Also I put a pot of water on to boil when I began this blog today. It would appear to be mostly gone. Once again I have put too much of myself into my class. I blame my students.
